Votronics Premier ("Votronics") is looking for an SMT Programmer to join our team!

Position Summary:

The SMT Programmer is responsible for developing and maintaining programs for Juki and Dek Equipment, operation and maintenance of automated equipment used to assemble electronic PC boards. This position will provide guidance and support for SMT Operators.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining programs for Juki Equipment, operation and maintenance of automated equipment used to assemble electronic PC boards.

  • Performs programming of various types of equipment such as automated placement Juki (2050E, 2060E), wave solder, screen printers, AOI, re-flow ovens, and those used in product assembly.

  • Regular inspection, cleaning and replacing of pick and place pins of SMT Machines.

  • Verify completeness and accuracy of customer supplied documentation files.

  • Perform programming responsibilities to meet customer deadlines, per documentation.

  • Develops and maintains other SMT related processes, writes profiles and monitors equipment lines to ensure proper program performance, process efficiency, and ongoing quality.

  • Regular meetings and effective communication with Sales, Production and Quality Departments.

  • Train, develop and support SMT Operators and PCB Production Floor.

  • Works with production, engineering and machine operators to maintain programs and equipment and to ensure efficient operation of work centers to meet production schedules.

  • Develop, maintain and improve documentation SMT process such as; screen printing, pick and place and oven profiles.

  • Performs customer specified modifications to programs per customer request.

  • Responsible for operation of PCB, Assembly, Inspection and Test equipment.

  • Troubleshoots process / equipment problems and fault corrections.

  • Maintains good housekeeping and safety principles, including ESD in the completion of all work assignments.

  • Collaborates with peers and/or supervisors to resolve problems depending on the level and complexity. Provide support to all other SMT areas as cross-trained and qualified.

Skills and Specifications Required:

  • 2 plus years of experience supporting SMT Programming Operations.

  • Associate degree or 2-year Technical Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience with Juki SMT pick and place machine, and Dek printer or similar.

  • Understanding of the Production environment, ESD and ISO Standards for PCBA.

  • Ability to work under deadlines (Programming SMT software to load into Juki machine, working with customer to identify alternative parts, etc.).

  • Detail-oriented, fast learner, able to read drawings and other written documents.

  • Solid written and oral communication skills.

  • Good organization and documentation skills Familiarity with different CAD data formats, such as ASCII, Gerber, XY, Excel, and Word.

  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must be familiar with Printed Circuit Board manufacturing data file use.

  • Experience with through-hole, wave, or re-work soldering a plus.

  • Familiarity with Electro-static Discharge precautions.

  • Ability to work on ITAR governed projects as needed. 

Physical Requirements, with or without accommodation:

  • Ability to speak, read and write as it relates to the job requirements.

  • Physical ability to see, stand, bend, reach, walk, push, pull, carry and lift up to 35 lbs.

  • Strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity required; ability to distinguish colors for wiring prep and installation required.
