Position Summary:

The Project Accountant is responsible for overseeing project accounting and project related reporting and controls for the company.  Perform additional assigned accounting and administrative duties as assigned.



  • Oversee and analyze project performance to financial standards and targets

  • Independently compile and complete analysis of project financial and operational results and communicate to management

  • Collaborate with operational project management to understand and assess project and project support costs, project revenues and profitability, cost improvement performance

  • Oversee all aspects of project accounting systems, ledgers, and reporting to ensure compliance to company policy, procedures, appropriate GAAP standards and CAS standards

  • Provide financial data and information in support of pricing and quotes

  • Maintain and update financial controls and tables of accounting systems (MS Dynamics 365 Business Central)

  • Prepare and present project performance analyses and reports for/to management

  • Control project setup process and monitor and maintain project specifications in accounting system(s)

  • Identify opportunities for financial and operational performance


Skills and Specifications:

  • Minimum of 3-8 years of accounting experience.

  • Four-year degree in accounting or related field(s)

  • Experience in manufacturing, inventory / distribution, project accounting and/or technology services preferred

  • Experience in direct and indirect costing methods and accounting – direct costing, overhead structuring and costing, inventory, work-in-process, standard rate costing/accounting

  • Ability to prepare and lead preparation of budgets, analyses of actual results to plan, linking financial and operational metrics and performance measures

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams

  • Proven ability to communicate in clear and concise manner

  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and ability to work effectively with other team members in accounting and operations

  • Experience in installation, upgrade or migration of accounting system(s) preferred

  • Microsoft Dynamics accounting application experience required, experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central required

  • Experience with other major ERP systems like NetSuite, Oracle, Epicor, etc. desirable

  • Experience and proficiency with Crystal report writer, or similar application(s)
