Position Summary:

The role of the Shopfloor Application Administrator is to provide technical support of Premier’s shop floor (manufacturing execution) systems and third-party applications. The Shopfloor Application Administrator is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues, monitoring mission critical systems, maintaining application, and operating software patching, and implementing new technologies in both hardware and software configurations. The WMS Systems Administrator will be required to work with business users, software developers, system administrators and other IT technicians to ensure continuous service delivery demands that exceed customer satisfaction.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading the factory automation information technology process based on user demands and business requirements.

  • Required to identify and recommend MES System Administration improvements, manage internal MES development efforts in accordance with established IT procedures.

  • Engage directly with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and finance to assure the accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of the data created from the shop floor.

  • Accountable to the business unit to create the design, functional requirements, and training necessary for the MES function in a defined location.

  • Implement and maintain MES Servers patching schedule.

  • Support the Staging and Development Environments

  • Configuring and maintaining the Premier shop floor applications.

  • Replacing and upgrading defective and outdated components when necessary.

  • Managing users and access levels. 

  • Manage and address application issues.

  • Proactively investigate any shop floor issues.

  • Provide technical support to rectify any systems issues and document resolutions

  • Work with system users to coordinate requirements, design, testing, and end-user training of system upgrades.

  • After any testing or troubleshooting of the software, ensure that the system is operating at full capacity.

  • Be the focal point for any systems issues.

  • Perform disaster recovery architecting, planning, implementation, and testing.

  • Apply continuous improvement in all aspects of the business.

  • Conduct support tasks independently as well as coordinate with others as needed.

  • Escalate issues with senior team members, vendors, and management to reduce impact.

  • Work closely with Application Development team to support the Software Development Life Cycle process.

  • Automate the software build, promotion, and deployment process.

  • Maintain and patch 3rd party applications; coordinate testing, implementing and support with 3rd party vendors.

  • Gain the trust of co-workers and management and strive to be ethical in all decisions.

  • Identify solutions that improve both the business and technical users experience and productivity.

 

Skills and Specifications Required:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology or related field experience

  • At least three years of WMS, ERP or manufacturing execution system (shop floor) experience as a systems administrator

  • At least three years working in a manufacturing or warehousing environment

  • Familiar with MS SQL Server and SQL concepts

  • Must possess a positive attitude and eagerness to work to complete assignments in a timely fashion and strive to always maintain the highest standard.

  • Excel at solution-seeking & problem-solving

  • Knowledge of EDI, API and XML a plus

  • Attention to detail

  • Must be a skilled communicator, director, and motivator -- ability to fully listen and understand co-workers and leadership and address their needs appropriately

  • Team player -- ability to work well with mangers and staff. Collaborative and compromising, able to foster a positive work environment

 

 

Physical Requirements, with or without accommodation:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Ability to walk and stand in production floor operations for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to periodically perform work in non-climate-controlled areas
